Egads! Me Brain Won’t Shut Off, Captain!

It’s funny, because I’m so busy, yet I can’t stop being interested in issues of gender and faith.  I just found my huge box of gender books (patriarchal, complementarian, and egalitarian) and literally squealed for joy.  I’m studying atonement theories too—fascinating stuff.  And listening to Orthodox thoughts on Sola Scriptura, while I clean and organize.

I want to shut off my brain so I can just concentrate on the all-ready-too-full plate in front of me.  But it won’t let me!!!!  Yeeaaaauuugh!  To me, the ideal evening is soaking in a hot bathtub reading an argument for or against penal subsitution theory.  My husband thinks I’m nuts.  So sometimes I watch the movies he rents, just so I can sit by him (and eat corn chips with salsa).  :)

Does this mean I may start blogging again?  I think so.  I need a place to process, to think aloud with others.  I started blogging (3 years ago?) for very different reasons than this.  It was so that I could have an outlet in a world that allowed for very few.  It was an act of rebellion, in that sense, even though in the blogging itself, I was promoting the patriarchal theology I believed.  It was so my mind could have expression after a long cold Narnian no-Santa-winter of trying to shut it down.  But it certainly wasn’t so that I could mull over the Orthodox view of Sola Scriptura or poke at Grudem’s thoughts on what Creation “clearly” teaches, or yell at people who grump about Bono’s work with dying people!!!

Back to helping the kids sort out the Lego’s, MegaBloks, and Playmobiles.  Things have gotten WAY too jumbled around here.  Reminds me of my brain…      By the way, have you read this Orthodox argument on why atheism exists in the West?

so, good to have you back. You keep me thinking, exercising my brain when all I want to do is sit and doodle all day.

  6. Wow! You’re back. I’m echoing what Marissa (my real life sistah said) and starting back here to progress forward, soak up every word, or at least skim the nutrients off every other word. SOOOOO glad to hear your voice again!
