Edit to Add: these were thoughts penned in the middle of The Autobiography of Bertrand Russell, which was a good book, really, and very interesting. It wasn’t his fault that I wrote the poem below—I suppose I am fairly ripe, with or without his autobiography, to muse on how humans tend to swirl around [...]

tonight i sit and wait for it,
that magic bullet (push or pull it)
to wave the wand and make the dawn
come now.
no more pain, just lauded gain
and banished fears, wiped-up tears,
lions, lambs and party plans
right now.
so take that wood (as if I could
to nails submit, or any part of it).
i want no cross, i want no cost -
