Many readers here who hold complementarian values have emphatically declared their belief that men and women are equally bearers of God’s image–a view which I hold myself and think Scripture supports. But not all complementarians agree, and the quote below is one small example of a popular leader who teaches otherwise.
There is so much in this sermon that I disagree with, primarily because [...]

The whole point with “equal in being, unequal in role,” is that women have been considered inferior by culture and by the church until recently. The word, “role,” now as normal in traditional Christian gender-speak as apple pie, gained it’s popularity when folks realized women weren’t actually inferior…yet needed to find a way to explain why they should continue [...]

Warning: Long. Again. Sorry.
Also, I really appreciate the comments here (whether we agree or not). Somehow, you all manage to communicate a deep love of Yahweh through your keyboard onto my screen…very beautiful. Actually, I initially wrote the following in the comments box of Part One, but it ended up being so long, I figured I’d make it a post. Blogger’s prerogative, [...]

With apologies for the length of this post, I am finding some disturbing discoveries in studying what complimentarians teach about the Trinity, as opposed to what orthodox Christian teaching is. Maybe Grudem is right, but regardless, it does seem to be a departure from the historic understanding of the Trinity.
Pretty much all agree that the [...]

Quoting Scot McKnight (in a comment at RobbyMac, emphasis mine):
…Speaking from within the evangelical ghetto, my experience has been that, on the one hand, evangelicalism has lost touch with the full expression of the gospel as good news for the renewal of creation and the breaking-in of the Kingdom into the present age. On the [...]

I would like to hear what you think:
Modern Gospel: God only spoke through the Patriarchs, Prophets, and Apostles, i.e. revelation and inspiration stopped with the Biblical Scriptures; only the Bible is left to us in this present age.
Original Gospel: God’s revelation is progressive and ongoing, as the age and condition of mankind is unfolding. Each [...]

So we’ve talked about fundamentalists and evangelicals. What’s left? Liberals. And liberal Christians are all stupid and I hate them. And they’re bad, too.
The End.

Fundamentalism came out of the evangelical movement. So while the two have some similarities, they also have distinguishing features. Both adhere to a core doctrinal belief system, yet the practical outworking of those is often what distinguishes the two groups.
[From Wiki]: evangelicals in the United States generally adhere to four core beliefs:
Biblical inerrancy
Salvation comes only [...]

When you hear the term, “fundamentalist,” applied to a Christian, what does it mean? Wiki (do read their full article, if you have the time) sums it up as follows:
Fundamentalist Christianity, or Christian fundamentalism is a movement which arose mainly within American Protestantism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by conservative evangelical Christians, [...]

Okay, by popular request (and good suggestions), I am amassing words for a post on definitions. This is so that all of us participating in these discussions can use words that have a commonly-understood meaning. …As in, even if we don’t agree, at least we’ll have a better chance at understanding what the heck the [...]
